New lighting can really change the feel of your room. I am so excited to announce that my home is almost rid of terrible lighting fixtures. This has not been with out hard work and possible electrocution.

For the front guest bedroom I found a great shade from Anthropoligie and hardwired it to the ceiling.  I love the way it turned out

The second bedroom contains a cheap fabulous fixture from Ikea.

So dont stress over ugly lighting. Get creative! I changed both fixtures for $65.

Feature on Apartment Therapy!!!

I had one of the best surprises today! I kept getting really sweet emails regarding the headboard I made a while back. Then I realized why...Apartment Therapy featured it on their blog!!!!  I check Apartment Therapy daily.  To have one of my favorite and most revered design blogs feature me is truly an honor.  Below is my headboard (at the top) and the others they featured.

Check out the headboard and if you are interested in ordering a custom one, shoot me an email.  I've had people interested in all sizes, so just let me know what size bed you have and I can shoot you a quote!

winter organizing

It is getting warm outside!!!! Open those doors and windows start the SPRING CLEANING!

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you be successful in your spring cleaning ::

One of the biggest fears of cleaning and organizing is that you will not finish and that it will not be perfect.  It takes me a few trys to actually get all of the clutter out of the space that I am working on. My reward, organizational baskets, bottles and containers.

Take it one room at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself.

My very favorite tip for  cleaning out a closet or a space that has things you just cant throw away is....put everything that you never use in a box to go to a charity, leave the box open, if you need or want anything out of it in 30 days you can keep it. The things that you don't need you have to give away at the end of the 30 days.

This stuff is stressing you out. Get it out of your house!!!! If you don't love it give it away someone else will love it.

office redo

When you move into an older charming house there are bound to be rooms that need a little repurposing. I love what Laura McAllister did with her once boring space.

Before ::

After ::

My favorite part about this redo is the it combines skill and creativity. The built in seating just makes you want to curl up and read a book, and the desk is clean simple and best of all super functional.

The thought of redoing a room by your self can seem over whelming but combine an eye like Laura's and a plan of action and you can totally make it happen!

I have loved seeing your home redo's. Please keep sending them! Everyone needs to see your hard work.
