refreshing the furniture, tree dresser

I painted this dresser a few years ago. I could not decide how I wanted to finish it.

I decided to add stain to finally call it finished. You can take any piece of furniture in your own home and make it one of a kind.

parenthood

The best tv set ever!

Along with the fact that I love the show for its real life story lines and fabulous characters, the homes that they live in are absolutely amazing. From Zeke and Camille's sprawling farmhouse to Crosby's boathouse, I want to live in them all.

If my family dinners were here I would be excited to go. Don't worry...I have it on the books to build one before the spring festivities.

green roof

AHHHHHHHHHH!

I NEED this roof! The prices I have found are about $10-$15 per square foot. They last 2-3 times longer. and of course they provide heat in the winter and keep your house cooler in the summer. I pinky swear that they first sign of our roof needing repair this will be my roof of choice.

Doors!

If you have never spent any brain power on how to reuse a door you are missing out! they can literally be anything. The best part is that there are fabulous doors at junk store for super cheap. So let your mind run wild. Create! Send me your creations!!!!

charlotte slate accent

I have always referred to this bedroom as the room where all of the extra furniture in our house goes to die. After I moved it around every way and painting it a few times, I knew exactly what I had to do. The carpet had to go! I also decided to paint an accent wall. After the carpet was out, I felt like I could take a deep breath and make this room serene and welcoming to our guests.

Boring...

I changed the mini blinds to wooden blinds, switched up the furniture and painted an accent wall  (Charlotte Slate, found it on West Elm) and now it really feels like a place where our guests can feel at home.

playhouse to greenhouse :: phase one

My dad has owned this house since I was in 5th grade.  It's great to live here as an adult and have all the kid memories. One fabulous memory was building this playhouse in the back yard.

Well...except for the fact that we never finished it. Since my husband Michael and I have moved in, it has constantly bothered me, but i could not figure out exactly what I wanted to do with it. I found this amazing idea on Instructables. Michael and I also loved the idea of putting a pitched corrugated tin roof on the front to make a porch. So we have a plan, but we needed tons of scrap wood to make this project real.

I started my search for windows on Craigs List. I ended up finding a great deal for the first wall.

I already feel so excited to have just one wall up! Keep checking back for more updates and more walls. This one might take a while because I really want to use scrap materials. Send me a message if you have wood or windows that you do not need. Ultimately my goal is to have it done by spring so that we can use it for storage and a greenhouse!!!

back to the center

Going on the saver side of setting your beautiful thanksgiving table. My first thoughts were pumpkins, feathers, and leaves. Of course martha has fabulous ideas for all of these items. Here are a few pictures of what we could do for our Thanksgiving table centerpiece and decor.

Metallic and glittered pumpkins.... yes please.

Stenciled or real. I love them both.

Making your leaves is super fun and crafty if you dont have the time buying these leaves is another great quick way to make your table fall and fun!

shipping container homes

My interest sparked in these adorable homes when one of my friends told me that he is going to build one. My first mental image was defiantly not as cute as these houses. He found one for $1100 per container. The best part about these homes is that you can add on to them so simply. If you have a plan in the beginning the sky is the limit to how much your house can grow.

Besides homes they can be super cute pool houses or even pools!

If you can believe it they go from this....

to this...

Here is the inside. Seriously, so awesome.

Deck the table?

When planning my holiday table for this year, all I could think was metallics.  Aaaannnnnd...this is why I love West Elm!  They completely answered my call.  I also don't really like the idea of using "holiday only" dishes (that's the saver in me coming out).  I love the fact that you can use the metallic "holiday spread" for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and fancy dinner parties.

I also thought this through when I got my everyday dishes.  I got a basic plate and bowl and now all I have to do is switch out my salad plate and Voila!   All is new!

Here are two options for my holiday salad plate.  I want 100 of each!  Feel free to vote.  I might not be able to choose...
